Sharing skills and expertise

An important spoke of the Bulungula Incubator strategy is to share actively our experiences, lessons learned, and skills developed with other NGO’s and communities wherever possible. When approached by a neighbouring community to help them set up a preschool of their own, we were happy to help. The workshops have been run by Funeka Jija, the principal of our Jujurha Education Centre, an experienced workshop facilitator and ECD practitioner. Funeka took the community committee through a range of topics from practical issues (suitable buildings, materials, curriculum, menu) to important aspects needed to build a quality programme including parental involvement and the relationship between ECD practitioners and the community. The workshop was a great success and we will continue to work with the community of Mazanyama and other rural communities, like ours, in the effort to expand access to quality ECD for all children.
