Our work aims to improve child and mother health and development in order to improve overall birth outcomes. Our Home-Based Care team visits and assists pregnant mothers to educate them about nutrition (breastfeeding, introduction of solids, and household economics), growth monitoring, weight and height measurements, child health, and pre/postnatal care.
All our Home-Based Carers have been trained in the Mentor Mothers Programme which is part of the Philani outreach programme. Additionally, our carers are trained to identify health issues in order to refer patients to a clinic.
All of the nutritious food used in the programme is grown and provided by our local community gardens.
