Are you looking for reliable and skilled workers for your business? Our newest Job Skills and Entrepreneurship Programme (JSEP) graduates are equipped and ready to start their first job. Our programme trains youth from our community to develop their skillsets and gain meaningful work experience.

We are located in one of the country’s poorest and most remote regions with a surfeit of young people who—through no fault of their own—have limited access to education, capital or other necessary inputs for creating a productive future.

We have found that the biggest obstacle to success for our young people is self-belief and the confidence they, their families and their community have in their ability to achieve their goals. It is incredibly challenging to leap from this situation into one where a productive career can be created.

JSEP includes accredited courses and skills development that fit within our surrounding areas’ skill needs and Bulungula Incubator (BI) programmes. Learners are then placed in a year-long internship hosted by the appropriate BI project in agriculture, Early Childhood Development (ECD), Maths and English tutoring at government schools (iiTablet Tshomiz project), community health work (Nomakhaya), office administration, and artisanal skills (including electrical work, carpentry & plumbing).

This programme structure allows incremental achievements to build self-confidence and a real sense of accomplishment. As the programme’s final phase, graduates are connected to work opportunities to kickstart their careers. We are excited to see our graduates take this next step and put their new skills into practice. But we need your help to make this a success.

By considering hiring one of our graduates, you will not only be gaining a trusted and dedicated worker, but you will also be contributing to our broader vision of ending poverty in a generation. Many of our graduates have been part of our programmes since the inception of the BI. This step along their journey is integral in establishing a fruitful career, enabling them to lift their families out of poverty.

We know our graduates and their families well and can vouch for their integrity and work ethic. Are you looking for a child-minder who can teach your child Xhosa? Could you use some help managing your home? Do you need an extra pair of hands around the office in an entry-level position?

We walk the talk here at the BI—we recruit our JSEP graduates as candidates when we have job openings at BI. We are confident that our graduates will make valuable additions to your team! Check out their profiles to learn more.
