Two of our very own Jurjurha Preschool teachers were recently selected for the Stars in Education award programme, a project aimed to celebrate educators who put in the extra effort to make a positive difference in the lives of their learners and surrounding communities. Of the twenty finalists in South Africa, three were from Eastern Cape with two of those three being right here from our very own Preschool in Xhora Mouth!

Funeka is the Principal and Grade R teacher at Jujurha Pre-School. Xolisa is an ECD practitioner in the 3-4 year old class at Jujurha.

The award ceremony was a prestigious event held in Johannesburg with the Minister of Education in attendance.
Funeka Jija and Xolisa Dayimani were both nominated for their hard work in promoting early childhood education and development with the Bulungula Incubator through the Mentorship of the Early Childhood Development Expansion Project. The project’s vision is that education is the most important instrument for change and has led to the success of Jurjurha Preschool along with the creation of 3 additional preschools by 2013. Each school will provide forty 3-5 year old children with Early Childhood Development through purposeful play and education as well as 2 balanced meals a day.
We are so proud of our teachers, keep up the great work!
