These are some pictures from the Old Mutual financial training day held in the village. This day provided training on matters relating to finance. A presentation highlighted the importance of using money wisely as well as the importance of saving. There were some lively discussions and a lot was learned. It provided good insight into what forms of credit are currently available as well as the difficulties associated with accessing formal banking facilities. An example of how people had been exploited was that of hire purchase. Some people had been caught out by the high rates of interest charged on certain purchases of household goods. It was good to hear peoples experiences, and get a better understanding of the challenges that rural people are faced with in terms of accessing financial services.
